Treatment is delivered using an electronic hand-piece, (the plasma pen) : the device uses a small metal probe to ionize atmospheric gas, producing a tiny plasma flash between the device tip and the patient’s skin. This minute superficial trauma causes the skin in its vicinity to tighten and lift, giving results that are noticeable immediately after only one treatment. The elasticity of the skin and skin tightening will continue to improve as the skin heals and repairs. More than just the tightening effect, excess skin is removed so the results will last as long as with a surgical procedure. Treating everything from fine lines and scarring, to skin tags and smoker’s lines, crow’s feet and droopy eyelids. A completely safe procedure, suitable for all ages and most skin tones, an ideal treatment for anyone who wants to achieve a smoother, more youthful-looking complexion with results which are incredibly natural.
The procedure time varies depending upon the area to be treated. The majority of treatments including local anaesthesia take approximately 90 minutes. This could be less for smaller areas such as the eyes or longer for larger areas like the abdomen.
No, the treatment itself will be painless due to the area being treated with local anaesthetic prior to treatment. The local anaesthetic can be slightly uncomfortable but this only lasts a few seconds and is not pain.
Post procedure the treated area will be swollen and red, however is usually able to be disguised for example using sunglasses for the eyes. We recommend that you return home post treatment and take it easy for the remainder of the day. The local anaesthetic will wear off after approximately 3 hours and you may have the sensation of sunburn.
We do not recommend applying makeup for the first 48 hours after treatment, if you feel it necessary then only a mineral based powder is recommended as the area needs to be able to dry out so that the small scabs will come off.
Swelling, occasionally some bruising, and slight muscle tightening and stiffness. The skin may also have the sensation of light sun burn. Skin infections are very rare as long as the prescribed after care is followed. Cases of allergy are quite rare unless you know you are allergic to local anaesthetics. This will be discussed with you during your consultation.
The results of treatment are permanent however you may require more than one treatment to achieve optimal results. it is also worth noting that the biological aging clock will continue so overtime you may find you need further treatments.
Treatment will have varying effects dependent on the person and their lifestyle. The treatment at self will work for everybody however the results are entirely related to how your body responds to the treatment and will vary from one person to another. Realistic outcomes will be discussed with you during your consultation.
We will not carry this treatment out during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
