    High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound FAQs

How long does a treatment take?

An initial consultation will be carried out prior to treatment. Typically a full face treatment will take approximately one hour. If you opt to have additional areas treated then this will take longer.

    Is it painful?

The treatment is not painful, however as the treatment involves heating the skin there maybe times when it is a little uncomfortable. We are always able to stop for short breaks to allow the skin to cool.  This will be discussed with you during your consultation.

What am I going to look like immediately after the procedure?

Slight swelling and redness is common, however it only lasts for 3-4 hours. Taking antihistamine and using cool compresses can help reduce the redness.

Can I use make-up after the treatment?

Make-up can be applied half an hour after the treatment although we would advise you to remain markup free if possible.

    What are the side effects?

Minimal swelling, occasionally some bruising, and slight muscle tightening. In very rare cases, flu-like symptoms can occur lasting a day or two.

How long does a treatment last?

On average you will notice the effects for up to 12 months. A second treatment after 6-12 weeks maybe required in severe skin laxity or to achieve a better aesthetic outcome.

    Does it work for everyone?

Although the majority of patients experience a great outcome, we are relying on your underlying health and lifestyle to support the treatment. We are not injecting anything into the skin and the technology used is designed to stimulate your own collagen and elastin stimulation.

    Are there any contraindications?

You should not have this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Some autoimmune diseases such as lupus can flare after treatment but are not a complete contraindication. Please discuss your medical history during your consultation.
